Georgia Hunter Bell delivered the performance of her career, clocking a lifetime best of 1:54.90 to claim silver. She finished just ahead of Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson, who secured bronze by the narrowest margin — only 0.01 seconds behind.

The gold medal went to Lilian Odira, who stormed to victory in 1:54.62, setting a new championship record. For Great Britain, it marked the first time in six years that two athletes reached the podium in this event, underscoring the country’s strength in middle-distance running.

Speaking after the race, Hunter Bell said:
“I wanted to prove myself in the 800m. I knew attempting both the 800m and 1500m would be too difficult, so I chose to give everything to this one.”

Hodgkinson admitted she was disappointed to miss out on silver but praised the competitiveness of the field and said she was proud to add another medal to her collection.

Team GB concluded the championships with five medals in total: silvers for Hunter Bell and Jake Wightman, along with bronzes from Hodgkinson, Amy Hunt, and Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
